Isle of Man egaming ambassador bids adieu John Gilmore, the Isle of Man’s egaming ambassador, has stepped down from his role at the Isle of Man department of trade and industry (DTi) and has been replaced by ex-Betinternet man Bill Mummery. Gilmore said he was stepping down to explore new opportunities, but would remain active within the island’s egaming industry on a consultancy basis. The change comes at a crucial time for the domicile with several major names expected to redomicile in the Isle of Man later this year. Costa Rica-based Poker Stars is currently believed to be recruiting for an Isle of Man-based chief executive in advance of a move. And Mummery said he was excited at the buzz within the island’s egaming industry. “I was with John at the ICE conference in London and what struck me was the quality of enquiries we were receiving,” he said. Mummery also said the domicile would look to boost the amount of egaming service providers it has attracted to the island. Alternative payment firm NETeller and software firm Microgaming are both based on the island, and Mummery said he would look to build on that initial success. “We are definitely looking to expand the network of support services on the island,” Mummery said.
