WFSB High stakes poker at Foxwoods

WFSB High stakes poker at Foxwoods: "MASHANTUCKET-- Poker fans and players kept a close eye on a big game at Foxwoods Casino Wednesday. The action was hot and heavy as one and a half million dollars was riding on games that began at four o'clock. With about five hundred people watching, they call it the fastest growing sport in the country. The World Poker Tour started from scratch three years ago and has caught on fast. Thanks to a ton of exposure on cable channels, poker is really catching. The one at Foxwoods on Wednesday was also videotaped for the Travel Channel. 'One reason it's so popular, when people watch at home they can relate. None of us can hit the ball out of the park or get a slam dunk, but we feel we can do this, there are amateurs at every table', says Lyle Berman of the World Poker Tour. Six hundred seventy-four people paid ten thousand dollars each to get into the tournament at Foxwoods. The games have been going on since Saturday."
